About the Artist

Artist Joanne Adair

Joanne Adair

Joanne Adair  was born and raised in Dayton Ohio. Always interested in the arts, and nature from early childhood. Obsessed with all aspects- Drawing, sculpture, painting, designing clothes, etc. to violin in the school orchestra. Life goes on, and eventually art won again.

Meeting local artists that are well known in dayton and across the U.S., life in art was revisited but this time with more passion and impact. Family vacations to the mountains of New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada all played a part in the influence of colors and textures, while growing up, which gives her the drive and inspiration she has today.

Having worked on rusted steel in the beginning and still enjoys due to the natural texture and variations, now works on canvas. She loves using texture and/or creating illusions of, with acrylics.

As a new and emerging artist, Joanne’s creativity has been develeped and renewed for years through many aspects- writing, drawing, even the art of makeup with a license in Cosmetology. Those outlets did not seem quite enough. She began painting as a protege of nationally acclaimed artist, Roger Sayre, and has gone on to study with other artists and workshops.

Having worked on rusted steel with Sayre, she now works independently in her studio with a variety of materials. Joanne loves using texture and creating illusions with acrylics. Always seeing beauty in colors, her vision is “abstract thru karmatik kolors’ – feeling colors are guided thru karma as a whole mind, body, spirit experience. Absorbing moods and surroundings is what develops her abstract, non-objective art.
